Location
Mackouwkuil Game Lodge and Conference Centre will be your home for the duration of the course. This beautiful destination, with its abundant lakes, a winding river and various wild animal species, is located deep inside the spectacular Waterberg biosphere (malaria-free) in the Limpopo Province, about three hours north of Johannesburg. The peaceful surroundings provide the ideal setting for a life-changing academic and spiritual journey, with many meaningful activities to entertain you in your spare time. Here you will experience up-close the resort’s resident hippos and other African animals, feed Nyala and Golden Wildebeest in breeding camps, help save newborn calves and assist hand-rearing orphaned animals.
Weekly game drives at this 2,000-hectare (4,942 acre) park are always a treat, where you might run into Grumpy, the prize buffalo bull. Join the staff for some catfish or bass fishing in one of the three lakes, but watch out for the crocodile…or rather fish safely from the enclosed deck! Bird-watching enthusiasts will marvel at the beautiful African Fish Eagle, one amongst a large variety of other African birds found in the park. The adventurous-at-heart will enjoy hiking down a five-mile ravine road surrounded by native wildlife. You will also get the opportunity to help build a walking trail in Leopard Creek. If you simply want to unwind after a long day, you can relax in the heated rock pool or join the group for cozy evenings around a campfire with a beautiful view of the river.
